Today is the 10th. Since we flew into the future yesterday, we covered the 8th and the 9th. The rooms we have are very basic, but the bed and shower feel wonderful. As we stepped out of the plane yesterday and out of our room this morning I was amazed at how warm and humid it is here. It was good to be back and surrounded by the lush tropical atmosphere. We unpacked all of our gear and started putting the equipment together. In the afternoon we went out and got to dive with the Scripps group as they retrieved an ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) that was deployed last year. It was very clean for sitting in the ocean environment for that long. Once everything was on deck we went to a shallower location and deployed another ADCP for a test run to make sure it worked before we put it out for the year. It was so nice to be diving in water where we didn’t have to wear a wetsuit. The water was beautiful, with fish and coral all over. We finished up the night over at the drop off, which is a bar that was built to house the crew of Survivor, Palau. They have amazing food and good cold beverages.
